Injectable Treatments
Botox and Xeomin
What are BOTOX® and Xeomin®?Derived from the botulinum toxin, they are all part of a class called neuromodulators. Neuromodulators are administered directly into the muscles of treated areas with a fine needle. Once they have been injected, they block nerve signals from reaching facial muscles, preventing the muscle contractions that cause fine lines and wrinkles and temporarily relaxing treated areas. Although the available neuromodulators are produced by different manufacturers and have slight differences in the production process, the effectiveness of treatment and results are comparable:
Within three to four days after treatment, they begin to relax underlying muscle activity and frown lines appear smoother. The effects of neuromodulators can last from three to six months. The more consistent the follow up treatments are, the longer they tend to last.
Possible side effects include slight bruising, swelling and redness at injection sites, but these are rare and temporary.
Fillers
Fillers are a minimally-invasive, non-surgical solution to the visible signs of aging. We offer two types of fillers: hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapetite. Both are found naturally in the body. When injected underneath the skin with a fine needle or cannula, these substances bind with water to instantaneously volumize treated areas.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (Voluma, Vollure, Juvederm, Volbella, Versa, and Belotero) have different properties and longevity depending on the amount of cross-linking involved. This gives us a wide range of choices to best treat any area, from restoring volume to softening nasolabial folds to delicate lip enhancement.
Radiesse is a filler made with calcium hydroxylapatite. It not only instantly restores facial volume loss, but over time works with your body to stimulate collagen growth for long lasting results. Radiesse can be used in any area of volume loss—the cheekbones, chin, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. It is also great for the backs of hands to diminish the bony and veiny look that occurs with volume loss and age. A new indication is to dilute it and spread it under the skin to stimulate collagen and tighten the face, neck, decollete, and arms.
Possible side effects for all fillers include temporary minor bruising, redness or swelling.
Kybella
A unique formulation of deoxycholic acid, Kybella® is the first treatment of its kind that restores more natural, normal-looking contours underneath the chin. Deoxycholic acid, found naturally in the body, aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fatty tissues of the chin, Kybella® permanently disables fat cells so they can no longer store or accumulate fat. Most patients experience visible results between two and four treatments and the results are permanent. As deoxycholic acid is typically easily recognized and processed by the body, this treatment typically has no major side effects aside from slight swelling, numbness, bruising, itching, or redness at injection sites. Although Kybella® disables fat cells at the source, a healthy diet and exercise are the best ways to maintain results and ensure that excess fat does not recur in this area.
