As the skin ages, the loss of collagen and elastin leads to visible signs of aging in the face. While some people experience volume loss and skin laxity throughout the entire facial area, others have signs of aging predominantly in the cheek area.
At Nancy Shibayama, M.D. Inc., our Juvederm Voluma® injectable treatments target fine lines and wrinkles in the mid-face without surgery or any healing time required. Contact us today at our locations in Auburn and Roseville, California, to schedule a consultation with Dr. Shibayama.
What is Voluma®?
A member of the Juvederm® family, Voluma® is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for deep injection in the cheek area. Voluma® addresses lax skin and volume loss as a result of the aging process in patients who are 21 and older.
Voluma® is comprised of hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in the body and plays a major role in skin tightening. After mid to deep injection with a fine needle, this smooth gel formulation instantly plumps and adds volume to the apples of your cheeks, enhancing your profile.
Doctor Shibayama performs all injections personally in order to ensure quality and patient safety. When used to treat lines and wrinkles in the mid-face, Voluma® offers several benefits:
- Fast treatment that is done in-office and easy to fit into any busy schedule
- A treatment plan that is both customized by and medically supervised by Dr. Shibayama
- Smoother, tighter skin that can last for up to two years
- A facial profile that is subtly but noticeably improved, with no incisions or recovery
- Voluma® contains lidocaine to increase patient comfort
Is Voluma® Safe?
As with all Juvederm® products, Voluma® has been tested in multiple clinical trials and has a proven safety profile. Slight bruising, redness and swelling is common at injection sites and will subside within a few days.
Depending on your desired outcome, Dr. Shibayama may recommend multiple sessions. While signs of aging cannot be completely prevented, they can be reversed and maintained with Voluma® as part of a regular treatment plan.
Am I a Good Candidate for Voluma®?
During your consultation with Dr. Shibayama, factors such as your health, medical history, cosmetic goals and expectations will be discussed to determine if Voluma® is right for you. Individuals who have injuries near the treated areas or who have pigmentation irregularities or excessive scarring may require further evaluation before treatment is approved.
